Jim & Linn live in Flushing, NYC (my neighborhood too!) Flushing is best known for their AMAZING and authentic Asian foods! There is sooo much here but that’s a whole other blog post. It was cool to meet another couple who loved this neighborhood as much as I do!! Jim wanted to document their love of each other and of the good food in this hood!!! We started their shoot at the Queens Botanical Garden and then scurried around downtown Flushing to get some of their favorite foods! We first hit up White Bear (A Flushing wonton STAPLE), then Duomi Rice Yogurt House, Tangram Mall for some Meet Fresh and Cuppa Tea! It was SUCH a fun session and I loved hanging out with them and enjoying our neighborhood and all the GOODIES it has to offer!!
A New York City Multicultural Wedding in Queens
Neda and I bonded over bubble tea when we first met, so we only saw it fitting that we would get a shot of the couple in front of her favorite bubble tea spot in Flushing, Queens. Neda is also a huge, huge fan of Totoro-- so of course Totoro was a theme throughout her wedding. Totoro cake toppers and a mega huge totoro cut-out for the photobooth!? AWESOME!! One of my favorite parts of the wedding was during the ceremony. Neda loves the show Friends (so do I!) so when her friend officiated her wedding with, "It is a love based on giving and receiving as well as having and sharing. And the love that they give and have is shared and received. And through this having and giving and sharing and receiving, we too can share and love and have... and receive." There were so many great parts to the day, we began at Neda’s family home, then headed over to Gantry State Park to do some wedding portraits then finished the day back in Queens at the Sheraton Hotel for their reception. It was another amazing night as a New York City wedding photographer! ;)
New Year's Gramercy Park Hotel and New York City Engagement Photography Session
Marie and Jon got married in May and came to New York City to have their engagement photos taken! They both had a love for the Gramercy Park Hotel and stayed at the Gramercy Park Hotel since their wedding. We got some shots inside the Gramercy Park Hotel then we headed off to Times Square! Their one request was to get a shot in front of a New York City Taxi cab-- and we really went for it. You have to give these guys huge props, because it was literally 15 degrees outside in New York City BRICK weather! It’s so nice to do a New York City Engagement Session for those who live outside of New York City!
New Jersey Wedding with Angel and Gary
I don’t know why this always happens, but usually if the couple has a bad first date- they end up getting married?! Haha, on their first date, Gary was over an hour late! But that didn't stop these two from becoming inseparable- thank goodness! It was so awesome working with this couple, Angel was really chill and fun to be around. The love between these two was palpable throughout the entire day. It was really, really sweet to see how much these two cared for each other- from their silly looks to each other to the obvious comfort of holding each other- it made it really easy to capture. It was also really great that the weather ended up being perfect for outdoor photos and an emotional outdoor ceremony. I felt so blessed to have witnessed this marriage. Gary is born and raised in New York City but Angel is from New Jersey- so they had their wedding in New Jersey— starting first at Angel’s childhood home. It was a gorgeous day, and we did all their photos at the Rutgers Gardens - which was beautiful!! Here are some of my favorite shots of the day:
