I knew Mary Beth and Thomas were super awesome when I first met them. We chatted about their wedding day vision, their ideas, their style and their little Shiba Inu Pup! (View him in their engagement photos) I knew their New York City wedding was going to be a ton of eye candy... and I was going to have an amazing time getting some amazing new york city photographs.....and I totally did. It was hard to even edit down "favorites"... I had way too many!! They got ready at the Nolitan Hotel- which is a gorgeous Hotel in downtown new york city, beautifully designed lobby and space with a rooftop view of all sides of the NYC Manhattan skyline. One side, the Empire State building, another, the Williamsburg bridge and then the Freedom Tower. (WTC) Their ceremony and reception was held a couple blocks over at Public. Which was such a chic and elegant space. I personally love photographing around the Nolita area- love the juxtaposition of the edginess and elegance. It was such a great day!! We ended the night dancing away, their little nephew packing moves better than Bruno Mars and tattooing our bodies. A great night to be out and about in New York City photographing such a sweet wedding! Here are some of my favorites:
Columbia University Library and Riverside Drive Park Engagement Session in New York City
Sherrie and Dan both attended Teacher's College at Columbia University on the Upper West Side of NYC. So when they asked if they could do their engagement session there-- I was really excited!!! I don't know what it is about libraries... but it is always so aesthetic to be around them. Our session began in the space where they spent most of their time studying, learning and equipping themselves to become the wonderful teachers that they are today. Dan now teaches High Schoolers and Sherrie teaches elementary students. I have so much respect for these two, they are excited to inspire and mentor the younger generation. They're also extremely carefree, fun and easy to be around and talk to!! It was a great session filled with taking polaroids of each other, singing, playing the guitar & ukulele and just really enjoying being each other's presence. We ended the night at Riverside Drive Park, and it was such a wonderful space and atmosphere to be in! It was awesome and I can't wait to photograph their wedding day as their new york city wedding photographer! They will be having their reception at Picnic House in Prospect Park! It’s going to so rad!!!
Dumbo Brooklyn, Brooklyn Bridge Park, New York City Engagement Session
Nancy and Sung are sooo great to me! For their engagement session, they totally let me be creative and allowed me to 'do my thing' during our session. It was so much fun! The weather was beautiful in New York City that day! We walked around Brooklyn Bridge Park, read some books about NYC, found some odd alleyways, drank a few cups of coffee and then found random props from the street- all in one session! Nancy is originally from San Francisco, and Sung Jin is from New York City and we were able to get photos of these cute books that are a nod to their native city. The photos really came out great and I am so excited to be a part of their wedding in San Francisco in October! Another great day as a new york city wedding photographer!
